A former Beardstown resident, James Bowman, 35, of Rural Mt. Sterling, is in the Morgan County Jail under $20,000 bond after he was arrested last week in Meredosia at a home adjacent to the Meredosia-Chambersburg High School.
He was charged with possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material and possession of drug paraphernalia. Morgan County deputies went to the residence at 1 Water Plant Road in Meredosia to arrest a woman for failing to appear in court.
Deputies smelled a chemical type odor inside the residence. After investigation, Bowman was taken to the Morgan County Jail where he remains since his arrest on October 15.
On Friday, October 18, Illinois State Police completed a surprise search at the Meredosia Chambersburg High School parking lot. Details of that search were not available from police.
