When employees of The Depot Restaurant in Virginia arrived for work on Thursday, October 17, they found the restaurant had been entered over night and someone had taken the cash register and broken into the safe.
Local authorities, with the assistance of Illinois Crime Scene Technicians, have come up with some good evidence as well as views from the video camera in the business. The video showed there was one person, masked and wearing gloves, that apparently entered the building just before midnight the first time and later returned. Entrance was gained though a window near the intersection of Routes 125 and 78.
According to other reports, a restaurant in Pleasant Plains was also broken into that same night.
Although local authorities are not saying too much about the case, Depot owner, Kelly Cagle says she is pleased with the way the investigation has been handled. Kelly said, "The police are doing everything they can." She was able to get the business back open for lunch.
