Charity Auction a success PDF Print E-mail

Thank you to everyone who made the Virginia's Square One, Inc. Charity Auction a success. The weather was perfect and there were bargains galore. More than $2,000 was raised toward the $100,000 matching donation for the new Virginia Community Center. Thanks to David Mefford and the other volunteers who came to help move all the treasures out of the Rexroat building and to everyone who came willing to spend a little to make this project happen. Special thanks to Mike Ryan for donating his services as auctioneer.
Raffle tickets are being sold for the 1984 Oldsmobile Omega with only 65,000 miles. Great, clean car perfect for the student driver. The tickets are $10 each or 6 for $50 and can be purchased from any Virginia Square One, Inc. board member. Other locations will be determined at a later date. Drawing will be held in conjunction with a silent auction on February 22, 2014. More info to follow.
The Rexroat Prairie Log Cabin Days had over 100 children attending who along with their parents and other visitors made the day such a huge success. It was a beautiful day to paint pumpkins, play games, watch Kirby Drennan create pottery on the wheel, press apples to make juice, watch rabbit's fur spun right from the rabbit, eat delicious baked goods from Hoppler Hollow Bakery and of course, try some of Debbie Gebhardt's mouth watering apple pie baked in the cabin's fireplace. Fantastic!
Hope everyone had a chance to stop by the Cass County Food Pantry's new location on Saturday. Many comments were made that there is so much more room than expected and they definitely need it. The next fundraiser is set for November 16 at the Roundhouse in Beardstown from Noon to Midnight. There will be music all day long from various musicians, a silent auction, food and more. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance from Joanne Anderson and will be available at the door.
Volunteers are needed to help pack boxes for distribution on November 24 and December 16. If your group or organization would like to help, contact Joanne at 473-5638. Joanne would like to thank the students from VHS who come each month and help unload the truck and package the products.
The Cass County Food Pantry Board members, along with volunteers from West Central Bank, will be pumping gas for tips at Casey's in Ashland this Thursday, October 17, beginning at 10 a.m. Pull in and experience the full service gas station from days gone by.
The Virginia Christian Women's Fellowship will meet Saturday, October 19 at 9 a.m. at City Hall. Please bring items for the school supply shelf. Plans will be finalized for the Veteran's Day Breakfast to be held Saturday, November 9 at St. Luke's Hall.
