The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has presented Safety Education Service Recognition Awards to Kenneth Walters of Ashland for thirty-five years and Randy Robeson of Beardstown for ten years service as a volunteer hunter safety instructor. They, along with a team of certified instructors, have helped teach and certify hundreds of students.
“This team of volunteer instructor’s experience in hunting and the outdoors helps the Department of Natural Resources’ Safety Education Section to educate many children and adults to be safer hunters,” said IDNR Volunteer Services Coordinator Neil Waters.
“Dedicated volunteer instructors such as these provide an excellent learning opportunity and help Illinois to provide a quality hunter education program for many students. They deserve this recognition for their continued effort and dedication to educating students on hunter education and continuing the hunting heritage.”
Walters and Robeson received their service recognition awards at a recent meeting in Virginia.
