The Angel Tree, which is a program aimed at providing a brighter Christmas holiday to disadvantaged Beardstown youth, age zero through fifth grade, will again be sponsored by the Beardstown Emblem Club.
A change was made last year to the manner in which children’s names will be accepted for consideration in the program.
A child can be nominated by obtaining an application from First National Bank, West Central Bank, Beardstown Savings Bank, Pamida Pharmacy or Beardstown City Hall. Basic household information will be required. Forms should be completed and returned to Beardstown City Hall no later than October 25. A child will only be considered for participation if an application is completed and returned by this deadline.
Monetary donations from any club, organization or individual would be gladly accepted and can be mailed to the Beardstown Emblem Club, Angel Tree Project, P.O. Box 347, Beardstown, IL 62618. Angel Trees will be on display at both banks and Pamida by November 15.
This program serves an ever increasing number of children in need in the Beardstown area and the Emblem Club would greatly appreciate any financial assistance the community can give.
