The BHS Soccer team took on two of the better Class AA soccer teams in Springfield (15-1) and Jerseyville. They lost both contests, 7-0 to Springfield and 6-2 to Jerseyville.

BHS vs. Springfield
The hometowners took on a very solid Springfield High soccer team that boasts a 15-1 record in Class AA. They battled gamely against the Senators before going down by a 7-0 verdict.
Springfield took an early lead of 3-0 on an aggressive start in the first 15-minutes, and was able to add a goal just before halftime to lead 4-0 at the break.
The Senators, showing why they are one of the top teams in Class AA schools, added three more goals in the second half to ring up the 7-0 verdict. “We didn’t play our best game and Springfield High was able to capitalize on that,” stated Coach Adam Hamilton.

BHS vs. Jerseyville
The Tigers faced another solid Class AA school in Jerseyville with the locals losing at home this Monday night by a 6-2 final. They fell behind early but outplayed the Panthers in the second half.
The locals made some costly mental mistakes early in the game giving the Panthers an early lead which they took into the halftime leading 6-1.
BHS actually outplayed the larger school in the second half holding them scoreless while adding a goal to run the final verdict to 6-2.
“We made some early mistakes which the Panthers took advantage of.  In my opinion we gave them four goals by our mistakes; let’s hope we learned from the errors.”
The Tigers are looking forward to the next three matches, starting with Springfield Lanphier this Friday, Mt. Pulaski on Saturday, and Lutheran High on Monday leading into Regional play. “Realistically we have a strong shot at winning all three of these games if we play up to our potential,” concluded Hamilton.
