The Trojans righted the sinking ship with a 58-6 thrashing of the ISD Tigers last Saturday at Don Kemp Field. The vaunted Trojan Wing-T attack rushed for 335 yards against the hapless Tigers.
“We kind of needed one like this, to get our confidence back,” said head coach Rich Thompson of the Trojans. “I thought our line played very good, and opened a lot of big holes for our backs. The backs also ran hard and we were able to play a lot of people and gain some needed depth and experience,” concluded Thompson.
The Big Blue spread the wealth around as five different Trojans dented the goal line. Matt Parker had a huge game for Triopia rushing for 187 yards on only seven carries, and scoring three touchdowns on runs of 28, 40, and 27 yards.
It took the Trojans all of 0:20 seconds into the start of the contest to put points on the scoreboard when Dean Arendt romped 18- yards for the score. The Trojans would add another touchdown in the opening frame when Parker scored the first of his three touchdowns going in from 28-yards out at the 7:20 mark.
The rout was on when the Big Blue notched five touchdowns in the second period of play against ISD. Parker scored on runs of 34 and 28-yards, with Dakota Jacoby denting the goal line with a 12-yard run. Arendt scored on 13-yard burst, and Kendall Clayton scored the last touchdown of the first half on a 20-yard scamper.
The Trojans held a commanding 52-0 lead over ISD at the intermission.
Following the midway rest stop the Tigers finally got on the scoreboard when Sherron White lugged it in on a 72-yarder scamper for ISD’s lone tally. The TD gallop came in the third period with 9:30 left on the clock.
The Trojans completed the scoring in the contest when Kaleb Brogdon scored on a 19-yard run with 5:14 left in the third period.
Triopia Improved to 2-3 overall, and are 1-2 in the WIVC?North. The Trojans desperately needed the win over ISD as they face two really tough opponents still left on the schedule in Greenfield and unbeaten Camp Point. The Big Blue also has games against Mendon Unity and West Central remaining on their schedule.
