By Marc Patterson
Retired Army First Sergeant Marc Patterson, a Beardstown native who works for the Veterans Administration's Illinois Lost Veterans Project will have a booth at the Beardstown Fall Festival this coming Saturday and Sunday.
All honorably discharged veterans will be able to enroll in the VA Healthcare program and will also have an opportunity to discuss any VA benefit eligibility issues. Any veteran who already has a service connected disability with the VA less than 100% may be eligible for an upgrade of their current disability.
It is recommended that veterans bring a copy of their 00-214 (discharge/ separation paper) so that the healthcare enrollment application can be completed and mailed in to the VA project.
Any veteran with a service connected disability issue should also bring their VA claim decision paperwork that awarded them their percentage of disability.
Retired Army Sergeant Marc Patterson's 30 years of experience working with the VA hospital system and service connected disability issues has proven valuable to the veteran clients that he has helped, some of which live right there in Beardstown.
Looking forward to meeting with any Veteran.
