|BHS Fallen Soldiers Memorial dedicated|
|Written by julie|
At 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, the Beardstown High School Fallen Soldiers Memorial was officially dedicated. An assembly including several eulogies, Invocation by Pastor Scott Egbers, music performed by Brian DeLoche and the BHS Elite Choir was followed by the presentation of the American Flag.
Pastor Bob Schoolcraft performed the blessing of the flag. Following the assembly and service, non-family members were dismissed to the memorial site. The remaining family members shared in a moment of silence. Once outside, a procession of the flag, led by WWII veteran Charles Chambers, passed through the hands of family members to the flag pole. The raising of the flag and revealing the stones was followed by the National Anthem, reading of the names, 21-gun salute, TAPS and a blessing of the Memorial and Benediction by Pastor Mike Courson. Due to presstime restraints, additional photos and the complete story will appear in next week’s Cass County Star-Gazette.
