BHS soccer off to fast start with three wins in early going PDF Print E-mail

The 2013 BHS Tiger soccer team is off and running with a 3-0 early season start. They bombed Athens in a 9-0 home opener, and last Thursday knocked off Canton (AA) by a 4-0 verdict, and defeated Norman Calvary Christian 6-0 on Monday at the Williamsville Tourney.



BHS vs. Athens
The Tiger soccer team got off to a splendid start when they won their season opener by overwhelming Athens by a 9-0 final in the home opener.
The hometowners got a premier performance from sophomore Ulises Leon as he scored the “Hat Trick” by scoring three goals, to go with two assists. Also scoring for the O&B were Murphy Domitien, Angel Izquierdo, Ricky Vasquez, Antonio Celaya, Juan Rodriguez and Carlos Rodriguez.
Beardstown was very effective in spreading the scoring as they put four goals on the board in the first half and five in the second. They completely dominated the Warriors as they put up 23 shots on the goal, while Athens mustered only three attempts.
Angel Izquierdo, another BHS sophomore, had three assists to go with his one goal, with the locals getting seven corner kicks to just one by the Warriors.
BHS goalies compiled three saves, with Athens coming up with five saves.

BHS vs. Canton
In the second outing of the young 2013 season, the BHS Tigers shut-out the Canton (AA) Little Giants in a 4-0 final. Once again sophomore Ulises Leon led the way with two goals and two assists.
All the hometowner’s scoring came in the first half as they built a 4-0 lead and then held the Little Giants scoreless in the second half.
Sophomore Angel Izquierdo and freshman Murphy Domitien also contributed goals for the winners.
Beardstown’s goalie, Marcus Ruiz, registered his second straight shut-out. The locals were able to put up 20 shots against Canton in the winning effort, with Ruiz credited with four saves.
