“Lions and Tigers and Bears…Oh My!!!!” PDF Print E-mail

The Beardstown Opera House is turning into the Magical Land of Oz this weekend with their production of Tim Kelly’s  OZ! The musical is based on the story by L. Frank Baum but with new music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur.
Heading up the cast as Dorothy, is Parker Carls with her true-life dad, Nathan Carls, taking on the Cowardly Lion part. Even grandma, Sandra Carls, gets involved as Aunt Em while the Munchkins and Monkeys take over the stage.
Marsha Grant as the Wicked Witch adds three of her clan, Jessey, Chaley and Treysean Grant to the mix.
Other groups of real-life sisters, brothers and sisters, moms and sons and moms and daughters fill out the cast of 30 actors to take you somewhere over that rainbow.
The show is directed by brother and sister, Shaver Tillitt and Cathy Megginson. The shows are at 8 p.m., Friday & Saturday Aug. 16 & 17 and at 2 p.m., Sunday Aug. 18. Tickets are available at the door. For more information call 217-248-6728.
