The Beardstown TAC Club, in conjunction with Jennings, Inc. of Beardstown, is holding a raffle for a 2005 Grand Prix car for the benefit of BHS sports.
Due to the large cutback of $60,000 in the 2013-2014 sports budget, Josh Sorrells, BHS Athletic Director, and all the various BHS coaching staffs, put their heads together and came up with the idea of raffling off a car to help finance the loss of funds due to the sports cutback.
Roger Jennings, owner of Jennings Inc. of Beardstown, has graciously offered a 2005 Grand Prix Pontiac (retail value of $9,000) at a very substantial discount to the TAC Club to be raffled off.
Jack Glisson, General Manager of Jennings, Inc. and Carla Walters comptroller, have worked closely with the Beardstown TAC Club and with members Scott Vermillion and Kim Watson, in making the raffle a reality.
The TAC Club members are selling the raffle tickets priced at $20 for one ticket or six tickets for $100.
The TAC Club sold raffle tickets during the 4th of July event at Roy Roberts Park, and currently plan to hold several other ticket selling events, throughout the city including being at Wal-Mart and other locations throughout the city.
The 2005 Grand Prix will be rolled out at halftime of the BHS Tiger first home game on Friday, September 6 when the lucky winner’s name will be drawn.
Sorrells stated that ticket sales have been going well, and expects interest to pick up as the football season nears.
Tickets are available at the BHS?High School or through any TAC member. For further information regarding the raffle, please contact Josh Sorrells at Beardstown High School at 323-3665, ext. 1225.
