Fundraising and beautification top Virginia’s summer agenda PDF Print E-mail

Have you noticed the big red concrete planters on each side of the square and at the intersection of 78 & 125? They were given a fresh coat of paint by our energetic VHS student volunteers and have now been adopted by caretakers. Thank you to The Eastside; Virginia Learning and Fitness Center; McClure, Thomas & Thomas, and Petefish Skiles & Co. Data Center; Welch & Lipsky and Moreland & Devitt Pharmacy; The Depot Restaurant and the First National Bank of Barry.
The Central Illinois Community Blood Center will have a Blood Drive on Saturday, June 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Lodge Room at the Virginia Masonic Lodge. Virginia's Square One, Inc's Fundraising campaign is underway.  $100,000 is needed to receive $100,000 in matching funds and their fundraising calendar is filling up for the summer.  A BBQ & Blues party with ribs by Rhiannon Young and music by Stuart Smith along with a silent auction is being scheduled for July. A live auction will be held in August with lots of interesting items to be auctioned off by Mike Ryan. Mark your calendars to attend and support the Virginia Community Center. If you can't wait for one of these events, donations can be made anytime at Petefish, Skiles & Company Bank, 102 W. Beardstown St., Virginia, Illinois 62691.
Stephanie Hobrock is connecting the two buildings that make up the Virginia Learning & Fitness Center. Once that is complete, Stephanie will be offering a limited time promotion of 30 visits for only $15. Egads! What a deal! Watch closely for that one as you will not want to miss out. If you have not been in to see what they have to offer, it’s definitely worth a visit.
