Skinner’s plea results in 15 extra years (originally published 7-8-10)

75- year-old Shirley Skinner got more than she asked for. The Ashland grandmother, convicted of murdering her granddaughter’s estranged husband Steven Watkins, requested a lesser prison sentence than the 55 years previously imposed by Circuit Judge Mark Schuering of Adams County on June 11.

Instead, Skinner received two additional 15 year sentences for solicitation of murder, two counts, to be served concurrently. She now faces 70 years in prison.
