A father and daughter were killed in a fire early Sunday morning at their trailer just off Route 67 at Black Oak Road south of Beardstown. Henry Bud Krohe, 68, and his 29 year old daughter Jeanette Krohe died in the fire of smoke inhalation according to Death Examiner Wyatt Sager. Four young children of Jeanette’s were not at home at the time of the fire, but were at a baby sitters in Beardstown.

Beardstown Fire Chief Darin Paul said that the trailer was so far gone when fire fighters arrived that the cause is undetermined. Paul said, “We have an idea of the area where it started, but the actual cause may never be known.” Paul said that there was no power directly to the trailer but an over abundance of extension cords was found.                                     There were numerous heaters found in the rubble. The State of Illinois Fire Marshall’s office was called to the scene for further investigation. The call to 911 came from a passerby about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Firemen responded with a truck and tanker and were on the scene nearly 5 hours.
