Changes in the spring city wide clean up in Beardstown will result in limits of two truck loads per household according to Public Works Director Gary Hamilton. Proof of residency will be required at the time of disposing. Clean up is Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 12. There will be no dumping on the weekend.

According to Hamilton, the dumping area north of the Public Works building will be roped off and patrolled. Hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be no disposal after 5 p.m. Bulky items that will be accepted include furniture, mattresses, and construction material. No hazardous materials such as oil, gas, or solvents will be accepted. Tires, paint, batteries, appliances with freon, or yard waste will also not be accepted.

As of January 1, state law prohibits electronic waste such as televisions and computers from being placed in an Illinois landfill.
